Blackjack tournaments are played just like the normal blackjack game where all players play against the dealer. However, in a black jack tournament play chips that are used to bet instead of real money. Winners are measured on the remaining size of each player's stack at the end of each round.
Tournaments for blackjack usually take place over a number of “rounds”. A round is a set number of hands (from 10 to as to 30, typically), and players begin each round with an equal number of chips. At the end of each round the player(s) with the highest stacks win and will advance to the next round.
Some tournaments may be quick single table tournaments where simply the player with the most chips wins.
Like in a poker tournament, there is a dealer “button” that passes from player to player each round. The button indicates which player is first to act. In most tournaments the dealer positioning on the first hand is decided randomly. One way is by either dealing each player 5 cards and then one with highest poker hand becomes the “dealer”. Another method is to deal players one card at a time until a player gets an Ace and becomes the “dealer”.
Sit and Go Blackjack Tournament
Sit & Go black jack tournaments are played at online casinos. Tournaments start immediately as soon as there are sufficient players. This type of tournaments are similar to Continuous Blackjack online tournaments except that they wait for a table to completely fill with players before beginning, and they only last for one round. Sit and Go Tournaments may involve one or more tables, although usually not more than 4.
Knock Out Blackjack Tournament
Knock Out blackjack tournaments are similar to Poker Heads Up tournaments where players are pitted one to one against other players, those who lose are immediately eliminated while the winner progresses to the next round.
Elimination Blackjack Tournament
Elimination blackjack tournaments are similar to regular poker tournaments. Opponents are seated in 6-player tables for rounds of up to 30 hands, the top 1 or 2 players from each table progresses to the next round until it reaches a heads-up and a winner is declared.
